Report: DFW Ranks as Most Active Real Estate Market in Last Decade

Posted In: DFW Real Estate

An analysis of U.S. Census and real estate data over the past 10 years declares Dallas-Fort Worth as the No. 1 most active real estate market in the nation.

To determine which areas of the country experienced the most growth, StorageCafe analyzed new construction in single family, multifamily, office, retail, self-storage and industrial sector in the 50 largest metropolitan areas.

In DFW, the StorageCafe report found building permits were issued for roughly 323,000 single-family homes and more than 233,000 multifamily units from January 2012-December 2021. The population of the Metroplex exploded with more than 1 million new residents in that same time period.

During the same period, office space swelled by 55 million square feet, industrial by almost 230 million square feet, while retail and self-storage added about 48 million and 23 million square feet of new space.

Moving to DFW

Today in 2022, DFW remains among the hottest real estate markets in the country thanks to a booming economy and business-friendly climate. Mass migration to the Metroplex has made house hunting a challenge, particularly for preowned home inventory.

More DFW homebuyers are seeking new home construction and new home communities in order to design their dream home and access desirable amenities.
